2014 Year In Review

New years resolutions I accomplished in 2014:

  • ride a horse
  • do more yoga
  • get a new camera
  • throw dinner parties
  • shoot a music video
  • redo my website
  • survive as a freelance photographer
  • drink more hot tea
  • give more freely
  • get a tattoo
  • work harder
  • custom USB drives
  • learn to let things go
  • more DIY projects
  • gain muscle
  • create things for myself

Thanks for being around and making all of this possible.

#DealWithItATL

Throwback Tuesday, y'all!

So basically forever ago I finished up school and had my senior group exhibition, Deal With It, aka the most awesome school-related evening ever. There was SO MUCH going on that I barely even remember what happened, which means it must have been great. We had tasty snacks, tons of people, gorgeous art, a billboard, a write up on Scoutmob, a beautiful space, a bit of booze, lots of laughter, and so much love.

I can't send out enough thanks to all the people who helped make this show happen and who came out to celebrate with us. In case you didn't make it, or don't remember it too well (maybe that's just me), here's a photo recap with bonus graduation photos.

Check out some of the work exhibited:   My Work     Amie Brink    Brittney Mullins    Dylan Fagan    Samantha Osiecki   Frederic Cisneros    Codi Glancy   Tess Yaney   Mae Elizabeth  Meghan Davis  and search #dealwithitATL on twitter/instagram/vine for more!

Thanks to Judy Pishnery, my mom, and a bunch of other people for the photos!

A different kind of family portrait

I've taken pictures of my family before: snapshots, group photos, even documenting a wedding, but I had never really created portraits of most of them. With some expired medium format Portra film and my uncle's Mamiya, I decided to try that on my dad's family's annual lake trip. We've been spending a weekend together every year since I was born, and all my memories of these trips look like my mom's old photographs. The digital snapshots I've taken since picking up a camera just never held the same feeling for me. I'm not sure if it was the lack of sleep while I struggled all night, or the personal connection and circumstances, but I got pretty emotional while printing them. Despite just one roll of film to get it right and a camera that I struggle with technically, I couldn't be happier with these 10 portraits.
